At IncogChat ("we," "us," or "our"), your privacy is a core commitment — not an afterthought. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights when you use incogchat.xyz (the "Service").

1. Our Privacy-First Design

IncogChat is built around anonymity:

  • No account required. We never ask for your name, email address, or phone number.
  • No video storage. Live video and audio streams are transmitted peer-to-peer via WebRTC and are never recorded or stored on our servers.
  • No chat logs. Text messages exchanged in a session are not stored after the session ends.

2. Information We Collect

2a. Automatically Collected Technical Data

To operate and protect the Service, we automatically collect:

  • IP Address — used for geolocation-based matching, fraud prevention, and moderation.
  • Device fingerprint — a hash generated from your browser's technical characteristics (e.g., user-agent, screen resolution), used solely for moderation and ban enforcement. It is not shared with advertisers.
  • Session metadata — connection timestamps, session duration, and country code. This does not identify you personally.
  • Server logs — standard web server logs retained for up to 30 days for security purposes, then deleted.

2b. Preferences Stored Locally

Certain preferences (theme, age confirmation, filter settings) are stored in your browser's localStorage — they never leave your device unless you explicitly interact with the Service.

2c. Reports & Moderation Data

If you submit a report against another user, we may temporarily retain the relevant session metadata (but not video content) to investigate the report and take action.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect exclusively to:

  • Match you with other users in real time (continent/country matching).
  • Detect and prevent abuse, ban evaders, and policy violations.
  • Investigate reports and enforce our Terms of Service.
  • Improve the reliability and performance of the Service.
  • Comply with applicable law and respond to valid legal requests.

We do not use your data for advertising, behavioural profiling, or sell it to third parties.

4. Cookies

IncogChat uses only strictly necessary cookies (e.g., session tokens for authentication to our API). We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies. You can clear cookies at any time through your browser settings.

5. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on the following third-party infrastructure:

  • STUN/TURN servers (e.g., Google STUN) to facilitate peer-to-peer WebRTC connections. These servers see your IP address but do not receive your video or audio.
  • Cloud infrastructure providers — our servers are hosted on industry-standard cloud providers that are bound by data processing agreements.

We do not integrate Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, or any similar advertising tracking technologies.

6. Data Retention

  • Video/audio: Never stored — zero retention.
  • Chat messages: Not stored after session ends.
  • Server logs: Deleted after 30 days.
  • Moderation records (ban information, report logs): Retained for up to 12 months to prevent ban evasion.
  • localStorage data: Stored on your device; you can clear it at any time.

7. Children's Privacy

IncogChat is strictly for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has accessed the Service, please contact us at privacy@incogchat.xyz and we will investigate and take immediate action.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Right to access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Right to deletion — request that we delete your data (subject to our moderation retention obligations).
  • Right to object — object to certain data processing.
  • Right to portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.

Because we collect minimal data and require no account, most requests will be fulfilled by confirming we hold no personal data identifiable to you. To submit a request, email privacy@incogchat.xyz.

9. International Users

The Service is operated globally. By using IncogChat, you acknowledge that your technical data may be processed in countries that may have different data protection laws than your home country. We implement appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

10. Security

We employ industry-standard security measures, including TLS encryption for all data in transit, to protect against unauthorized access. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced on the Service. Your continued use of IncogChat after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
